What's on my work bed?

I've seen various 'What's on your work desk?' posts on different blogs. Unfortunately my work desk is not big enough to contain my crafty enthusiasm, so I also use the spare bed as storage.
My task for today is to make it as clear as my work desk!!

Bind it all

Nothing exciting to say! The picture is here to remind me to take my BIA to school on Thursday to use at craft club!!

Brownie braids

We've had a crafty evening at Brownies. There was knitting courtesy of some of our Trefoil Guild members, pompom making and braiding. We used 7 strands of wool on a circle of card with 8 slits. It's just a case of moving the 3rd strand to the empty space as you move round the circle. Simples!!

CamWow

I've found another photo app which has several effects including the line drawing version shown above. Could be great in all kinds if projects. I've got several birthday cards in the offing and I can see a monotone mini album with just this style of photo looking rather cool!! t

Ideal home?

Spent today at the Ideal Home Show. Lots to see including a replica Coronation Street house (well two actually!) with before and after makeover.

I liked the Future Home demo with taps which serve fizzy water, baths which fill themselves ready for you to come home and a printer which prints things in 3D. Pretty mind boggling. Fancy printing your own blossoms and embellishments in 3D!!!

RND revisited

I love Red Nose Day and have a collection of bits and pieces from past years. This all came In very handy this year when for some reason I didn't get a t-shirt.
So I took my 2007 t-shirt

and raided my stash for some red Petaloo flowers from QVC to cover the date!

I thought I'd got away with it until an eagle eyed child noticed the side tag which had 07 emblazoned on it!!
Spent the evening watching the shown TV. Fantastic and what a fabulous final total. So, let the run up to the 2013 festivities begin!!

Patchwork

I was determined to find some crafty time today. I find it is so easy to get engrossed in techie stuff like blogs, Facebook, Twitter and e-mails, that suddenly an hour or two have passed by unnoticed and it's time to move on to do something else that isn't crafting.
Well I decided to attack the scraps box. I began with an ideas if making a patchwork effect card.
It was fiddly and I didn't like it!! I changed the embellishment.

I still didn't like it that much!! So I decided to create the effect using woven paper strips.
I like this one more. The only problem is that in cutting the strips I'm left with even more scraps as I can't use the small bits I originally intended!!

I promise

I have been to our Guiding County Day today. It's a long time since I have been to one and had a lovely time meeting old friends and swapping ideas with other Brownie Guiders. As well as coming away with a notebook of activities, I also came away with a new Promise Badge. ( I mislaid mine a while ago). It occurred to me that I have never recorded my Guiding over the past 30 odd years. I have a single photo of me as a Brownie somewhere and some from events as an adult. So, I make a new promise that somewhen this year I am going to find those pictures and scrap them!

Toggles!!!

My favourite jacket has fab toggles.

Unfortunately one broke, making the coat look odd when worn. I e-mailed Next, who were really helpful. They arranged for new toggles to be sent. Parcel arrived on Saturday morning. "Yippee" I cried!

Whoops!! Not to worry - customer services are back on the case. I've been very impressed with speed in which they have been dealing with this and am hoping for a happy ending!!

Comic Relief 24 Hour Panel People 2

Have just got back from a fab day. We left home at 7.45 and it only took 25 minutes to get to the studio. After a brief wait outside, we were passed through security and taken to the audience foyer. We sat with our cups of coffee waiting to be called to the studio. We were taken across the concourse and to a foyer outside the studios. We were hen led into the studio and seated, while the set was prepared for 'Whose Line is it Anyway'. It was a funny show with regulars from the original show - Clive Anderson, Tony Slattery and Josie Lawrence. Thefascinating part was watching the raw material with all of it's retakes and pause which would be edited from the final programme. A quick change of scenery and it was time for Never Mind the Buzzcocks. David Walliams took on the role of host with Neil Tennant and Robert Webb a team captains. Towards the end of the recording the countdown timer appeared to show that he 24 hours had finished. Loads of applause, pyrotechnics and confetti! The 2 and a half hours had passed so quickly and it was a really enjoyable experience. We weren't allowed to take photos during the filming but I managed a sneaky shot as I was leaving!
A brilliant achievement by David Walliams - 24 hours solid and still funny to the end!

Comic Relief 24 Hour Panel People

I had such plans for today, but I logged onto the BBC website to take a look at the start of David Walliams 24 hour game show marathon. I got hooked and have been watching - and laughing - since then. Even better, I'm going to be in the audience tomorrow morning. Really looking forward to it, but it means an early night so I'm going to miss lots of the over night fun.

Holyrood House

Have just been sorting through my photos from Edinburgh. I had intended making a mini book but I've got so many photos I think it's going to have to be more of an 8x8 album! I am determined to try to get through the backlog of two years of photos. I haven't really scrapped since I broke my elbow and I really do need to try to find the time to get crafting something other than cards, as I have hundreds and cards lurking around my house!!
In the meantime here are a few shots of the ruins at Holyrood House. The weather was very grey and drizzly, hence the rather dull pictures.

Happy Birthday!!

My nephew is 19 today. Here is the card I teased you with last week.
