Back to reality

Well it's back to work and the desk was soon covered in 'stuff'.

However I can still have my craft fix on the 60" whiteboard in my room!!

Last day of the holiday

I wish I was one of those people who did all of the chores at the start of the holiday. Unfortunately I'm a 'leave it to the last day' girl, so while you are reading this I'm whizzing round getting ready to go back to school.
I'll leave you with another 'Raindrop' card - all about the first day at school! Yes, I still get first day jitters after every holiday!!

North Berwick

While I was away I went to visit a friend in North Berwick. A very pretty seaside town.

Fabulous houses and lots of space.

Stunning views.

Historic buildings.

Sea life. ( I thought this was a model of two seagulls until one if them flew away!!)

Home again!

Have had a very busy time in Edinburgh!

Have seen the sights, walked for miles, taken loads of photos and met up with old friends.
Now I'm back and have a long list of things to do which should have taken the week but I now have a weekend to do them in!! Busy, busy, busy! (But I'm sure I'll find some time to craft!!!)

I'm so excited!!

For months now I have been trying to get my hands on tickets for Take That at Wembley. Couldn't get anywhere near a ticket when they first came out and I've been watching loads on e-bay and making lots of unsuccessful bids. Along the way I had a bit of a disaster when I didn't read the description properly and ended up with one ticket for a Saturday night performance. Obviously I didn't want to go on my own so that one will be back for sale shortly. Anyway, this evening I put a fairly cheeky bid in on a couple of tickets and got them!! Have just phoned a friend and told her that I'd got them and she screamed down the phone!! What a lovely start to the holiday!! Maybe the excitement will take the edge off my flying nerves!!

Ready to go?

Today I'm doing all the little jobs I need to do to get ready to go away. Washing is now drying. The suitcase is out if the wardrobe. The camera is charged. Amongst all of this I realised that as my nephew lives in Switzerland I would need to post his birthday card while I'm away. No problem except that I was planning to make it during the week!! So, amidst all the other stuff that needs doing I've had to make a card!
I always try to personalise the cards I make for family and I've found Facebook useful for finding photos. However this time I've used his Facebook page as the basis for his. I copied his basic page and then typed different comments related to his birthday.
I'm not going to publish it yet as his birthday is next week. In the meantime here is a card I made using a kit from C&C featuring Raindrop.

Edinburgh here I come!

Yesterday morning a friend and I made a very last minute decision to visit Edinburgh this half term. Booked flights last night and fly up on Monday. I'm ashamed to say that, despite having travelled round the world, I've never been to Scotland. Have been busy downloading city guide apps, but if any one knows of any great places to visit while I'm there, please let me know!

Birthday book (2)

Another page from the birthday book.

These photos are from a childhood holiday in Swanage. Fortunately even at a young age I documented dates and locations of my photos. I also kept them in albums rather than the old scrapbooks which held my popstar posters and cuttings. Just as well, as the old scrapbooks are yellowed and falling to pieces and the photo album is perfect!! Maybe I knew that my destiny lay in scrapping when I was older!

Birthday book (1)

When I decided to make a book for my sister I raided my stash for muted papers. We are completely different on just about every way so the pinks and purples were a no no! These tones worked really well with the black and white photos.
I actually won a photo competition with the left hand picture. In the good old days of 1968 the first prize was 25p!!

(Sorry the photo is a little small. I edited it on my iPhone and am not sure how to change the size!!)

Late Valentine

Last week at Brownies we were supposed to be making Valentine gifts. Unfortunately I was ill and we had to cancel, so last night we spent a happy hour sticking sequins in polystyrene hearts.

There was so much chatter that no one finished and they took them home to complete. It was amazing to see the different ways they tackled them. We had rows of sequins, curves, random patterns, tightly packed and flower designs. Just goes to show the diversity of creative styles that comes to the fore even when they are given the same simple materials!! Three cheers for creativity!!

Happy Birthday Little Sis

My little sister was 50 last week! How scary is that?
I raided my childhood photo album and made a book of photos that I had taken if her with my Box Brownie camera. I was pleased with the finished result and so was she. She said it was the best present she'd ever had!!

Can't show the inside yet as the pictures are all sideways!!

Happy Valentine's Day

While I've been away from Blogland I've continued my card making. I still like to use kits although I have so many toppers and character bits and pieces that I probably never need to buy another kit again!!!
Here is a Forever Friends Valentine for everyone who didn't get a card today!!

Sorry about the shine - everything I make is now consigned to cellobags!!

Wow!!!

It worked!!
The pictures of roses show my latest foray into craftiness. Saw them on Create and Craft and thought they'd be great for the craft club at school.
